Information via e-mail – The Association goal is to share information with residents while only mailing to those that do not have computer access. There has been a boost in e-mail addresses since the incentive was offered at the annual meeting. As a reminder, the incentive offered by Oak Prairie Nursery – residents that provide their e-mail address to Treasurer Goings at sgo1010@aol.com by October 1, 2015 will be entered in a drawing for a tree. The drawing will take place on October 2, 2015, and the winner will receive a 25 gallon container tree from a selection of those available at www.oakprairie.com. At this point, approximately one-half of the residents in the Association have provided their e-mail addresses. We really appreciate Oak Prairie providing this incentive to assist in improved information sharing. We are also most appreciative that Don Bossung volunteered to develop a web site for the Edenton Homeowners’ Association, Inc. Don met with the board, a decision was made on the domain name, and during the next several months the site will be developed. In a related activity, the bulk mailing permit will expire in the near future and it will not be renewed as it will be more cost effective to provide information electronically and provide regular mail to those that do not have computer access.

Hospitality – Ownership has changed on several homes in the area and hospitality committee members are making visits with the new owners.

Commons area – Christiansen Tree Service plans to remove the trees that have been marked and continue trimming in the Commons during the first two weeks in August. Access to several places in the Commons has been difficult due to very wet soil conditions. The current amount remaining on the contract is $870.00. The board took action to add an additional $1,870.00 for large tree removal. More funding will be required for trimming in several areas.

Tree planting along Old Cheney Road continues to be delayed as the seeding has not been completed. Fall planting is anticipated. Constructing the fence later in the year is also being planned.

Irrigation system – Many repairs to the aging system have taken place this year. Breakdowns continue and our service provider, Judson Irrigation has been very prompt in making significant repairs.

4th of July Parade – sponsored by the Edenton Association – Board member Bev Morton, the parade organizer, stated, “The Parade was a huge success.” At least 65 children participated and along with the adults, over 100 people assembled in the Commons at the conclusion of the parade. Treats were provided along with noisemakers. Signs were purchased this year to announce the parade and a number of residents have volunteered to assist with the 2016 Parade. If anyone took pictures they would like to share to assist in promoting the parade for next year, please send them to daylewilli@aol.com.

Annual Meeting follow up – Several residents of Thies Cove requested assistance to make repairs to concrete breakage problems on the street. The request was reviewed and the Board asked Dayle Williamson to form a committee of Thies Cove residents to direct the effort for improvements. In addition to board member Williamson, one other board member not living in the Thies Cove area will be asked to assist. The role of the committee will be, (1) identify areas that need repair, (2) select contractors and submit requests for bids, (3) host a meeting of all Thies Cove residents after the bids have been received, and determine how to move ahead. Volunteers for the committee please contact Dayle Williamson. He plans to get this effort underway during the second week in August.

Dayle Williamson will host the August 17, 2015 meeting. The meeting was adjourned 9:35 p.m.
